About Us
In 1890 a small iron Church was built in Stanley Road, followed in 1900 by a larger iron building in Stanley Park Road. Then in 1928 the current site in Queen Mary's Avenue was purchased and on 8th May 1930 the church, designed by Martin Travers in the Spanish Baroque style, was consecrated by Dr Garbett (Bishop of Southwark) as a daughter Church to All Saints, Carshalton. The congregation at the time raised a large sum of money to build the church, but were unable to complete it to the original design. In 1965 it was created as a Parish in its own right.
In 1995 the idea of an extension, to include a chapel exactly where Travers had originally intended, was suggested by the current Vicar, Rev Christopher Wheaton and following much prayer and consultation, work started on the extension in 2000. It was completed in May 2001 and dedicated in October 2001 by Archdeacon Tony Davies. A total of approximately £800,000 was raised by the congregation.
We have now nearly completed building work replacing our old halls, to provide a new hall with modern facilities for meetings and activities for our expanding Junior Church, pre-school, regular users and the local community.
